Dr. Kyle Yu is a native Texan but went to Emory University in Atlanta, GA for his undergraduate studies. After college, Dr. Yu accepted a scholarship to study traditional Mandarin in Taipei, Taiwan. Eventually, Dr. Yu discovered his passion was in healthcare and helping people achieve optimal health through natural means. He enrolled in the University of Western States, a chiropractic university in Portland, OR. His time spent in Oregon solidified a newfound appreciation for the outdoor splendor that only the Pacific Northwest can provide.
So after a preceptorship in Santa Monica, CA at a prestigious multidisciplinary sports clinic geared towards treating Olympic-caliber athletes, Dr. Yu decided to return to the Pacific Northwest and work in Seattle, WA. In addition to a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and a Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Western States, he also has hands-on experience as well. He has worked extensively with athletes on and off the field, in training rooms, tracks, football fields, baseball fields, racquetball courts, ultimate frisbee fields, rugby fields, soccer fields, muay thai arenas, marathon races, etc. Dr. Yu holds certifications in Graston technique, RockTape, Kinesiotape, and is well-acquainted with a variety of movement-based screens and rehabilitation theory, such as SFMA, DNS, Dr. Craig Liebenson’s work, and Motion Palpation Institute (MPI) adjusting techniques. Dr. Yu is also well-versed in Active Release Technique (A.R.T.), IASTM, FAKTR, CRAC, pin-and-stretch, and other soft tissue modalities.
For the past 4 years and counting, Dr. Yu has been working in Seattle at a chiropractic clinic that incorporates physical therapy, acupuncture, naturopathic care, and massage therapy. The clientelle ranges the gamut, from all walks of life and from all backgrounds. The clinic specializes in motor vehicle accident reconstruction as well as L&I injuries but also sees health insurance patients and the uninsured. After 4+ years as an associate chiropractor, he is now ready to take on a new challenge as a small business owner and entrepreneur.
When Dr. Yu was living in India, he also became certified as a Sivananda yoga teacher by Yoga Alliance as well as becoming an Ayurvedic oil massage therapist. In his free time, Dr. Yu enjoys any athletic activity and being out in nature. He enjoys hiking, kayaking, trail running, rock climbing, and swimming. He is a foodie that loves cooking or eating out. He is an animal lover of all kinds but particularly big dogs. Dr. Yu especially loves being near or in the water, whether that be the ocean, a lake, a river, a creek, a bay, or natural hot springs.
